Alright one of my favorite places of all time is the junk yard, aka Automobile Dismantling Place. B's been driving all over creation without a spare until this week. The three of us took up the cause and drove down to North Hollywood where a very kind dismantling type guy let us walk around gutted 4x4's, Toyotas that have lost their way in life to what appeared to us to be some pretty cool tires with rims. We talked junk for a while and then hauled the tire you see before you into the back of B's vehicle. When we got home we discovered the the spare is lifted into place via a little mechanism that could best be described as a tire cable crane. Yep, B started with the tire on the ground right beneath the car and slowly and deftly cranked it right up into place. Voila!
That was good because for a few tense moments the young lady you see in the picture thought she was going to have to wrestle the 40 pound monster up and in, and you can best be sure she could have done it!
